Been busy

Just finished my busy event season, proms and grad nights. Nice events to work in general but by the 10th prom in a row it gets kinda old. Prom kids are very hyped up. Grad nights are a welcome relief because they're very low-key by comparison but of course your working until 4am 2 or 3 nights a week so your sleep is f'd for the month.

These are all about 4 minutes per face. I draw outside-in usually and start with a chisel tip Sharpy then switch to a Markette for the facial features. I tend to use very brush-like strokes and draw realistically as opposed to real cartoony. The Sharpy with the more graphic quality helps my stuff look more stylized.

I don't start with a pencil I learned to just use a marker at Sea World in San Diego. Great bunch of artists there. I see some caricature artists that do use a pencil and then erase it after inking over it-almost exactly on top of the pencil; silly. I'd like to try and convince them to give it up because I know that they don't need it but it's tough to talk to most caricature artist you meet at events, they're usually very defensive.

Yeah that is a very attractive female who's into Harry Potter enough to go to prom with that nerdy guy who likes Harry Potter. Way to go nerdy guy!
