This is 2 of the pieces I did for the benefit I mentioned in the post below. I'm still not happy with the one of Shel Dorf. Lots or re-painting. I used to paint in gouache from time to time and have no trouble with it really. I even did a bunch of 1 hour caricature heads in gouache I liked. But now what I want from a painting has changed and I don't know how to do it in gouache. I want to blend and use all kinds of different edges but gouache on gessoed masonite doesn't want to do that for you. You need to tile your paint down thick and opaque or you'll have trouble. I had lots of trouble. I worked on it for an hour or 2 probably 7 or 8 days. And now I see I forgot to blend one of the cheeks.

The Stan Lee was much easier; 4 hours, from start to finish. I should have worked out the hand anatomy better.
